On 23 and 24 August 2021, the Youth for the Bódva Valley Civic Association held a gastronomy dinner and a professional workshop at the Pivovar restaurant in Kassa. The aim of the association was to familiarise the participants with the links between culture and food, the art of serving and serving, the culture of eating, and catering as a profession, i.e. to present world trends.

The first day of the event was dedicated to the profession. In the first half of the event, Peter Marcina (owner of Mirror Bar by Carlton) and Dominik Tapušík (owner of Sky Bar and Restaurant), representing We Host You, gave a presentation on the mysteries, challenges and possible breakthroughs of gastronomy and hospitality. The organisation is a group of everyday baristas whose aim is to collectively support and nurture the local bar scene by organising community-building events and workshops. The second half of the event focused on coffee. Thanks to Jakub Sobota, the participants were able to learn about coffee distribution and coffee making.

The second day of the event was all about tasting, as the participants had the chance to sample specialities and brandies.

The gastronomic afternoon and the professional workshop were organised thanks to the Youth for the Bódva Valley Civic Association under the Interreg V-A Slovakia-Hungary Cooperation Programme, with the support of the European Union and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The aim of the project is to improve the level of cross-border inter-institutional cooperation and to broaden cross-border cooperation between citizens, as well as to get acquainted with gastronomic customs and products.
